Orphan Chimps

Orphan Chimps
Tchimpounga Sanctuary, Congo, 1995
Caretaker Ludovic Rabasa doubles as a surrogate parent to over 50 orphans. Every day he plays with these infants, trying to foster social skills normally provided in the wild by mom and family. These chimpanzees can live to be over fifty, and can’t be safely released into areas with humans or other wild chimps.
